A figurative painter, Fred Calichon is interested in the urban world, its movement and its distribution in our space. He focuses on a series of characters walking around the city, or scenes of bistros and markets or a stall of butcher or fruit.
Fred Calichon research movement, light and volumes to transcribe on the canvas.
A new series on the world of urban and naval construction is under way. The atmosphere prevailing on the big building sites, on the docks, around the various machines and cranes is the common thread.
Fred Calichon also works in watercolor and ink, with themes as varied as the port of La Ciotat and its sharp, the surroundings of Sainte Maxime or the beaches and sunsets of Djerba.
What is important in Fred Calichon’s research work is not so much the subject but how it is interpreted, to give emotions to the viewer.
