Graduated from the National School of Graphic Arts on Ulm street, Clotilde Nadel creates her workshop of design in the 80’s, working mainly with the aerographer for publishing and the books of art. After a 25-year-career as illustrator for advertising and publishing, Clotilde Nadel devotes herself entirely to painting.
From this trade, she preserved a precise and realistic key which allows a significant daydreaming and a real poetry.
Clotilde Nadel’s imaginary functions on the crossed spot, the images which she gets through with. From there, she recomposes her own vision. She likes to manufacture situations mixing the secular tradition of certain cultures like the Japanese one and the reality of the contemporary world. The artist acts in the manner of one painter to defer translating a daily newspaper sublimated by color and light. As a true city-dweller, Clotilde Nadel likes to introduce many characters into her paintings. “We need movement in a painting, life”, she says.
Her subjects: the scenes of streets in Paris, New York, views of Arcachon, Provence.
